Viet-NOW #firstday

Game ON!!

Yes i am in Vietnam, Ho chi mihn city. we took a cheap flight from Jakarta by Air Asia costs us, 300.000 Rupiah or abt $30. of course plus airport tax $15. the flight was abt 3 hours, it was ok.. it wasnt really good landing. but it happens, we made it. thanks God

The airport seems pretty queit i was kinda surprise it wasnt really like Asian airport unlike Jakarta or Bangkok hectic with people, taxi etc. but it is very nice airport. im an Asian so i dont have to pay but Shea has to pay $25 (they will ask for Visa, for Asian we dont need it but westerm u can apply online and it takes u only 2 minutes so easy) we try to low the budget by taking bus airport but apperantly the bus ends at around 6pm so we had no choice then we got taxi, the taxi drivers who sits outside th airport will try to offer a price but of course overcharge, they will ask u in dollar. what i read in Lonely planet book, taxi to ho chi minh city costs only 75.000dong but last night we paid 180.000 dong which is about 90.000 rupiah 0r less than $9 but still good price.

we stay in BLUE RIVER HOTEL Phang Ngu Lao street. where all those backpack stays, again thanks to Lonely planet book, this is the hotel they pick. we got here at 9pm the girls are very friendly, at first they said all rooms are boooked.. we were so tired bragging those heavy suitcases. i was hopeless... but then they said there is an empty room but acoss the room they are doing the construction at the moment and will be alots of noise during the day.. but we insisted and convinced her we dont care.. i looked at the room and it's nice with big bed white sheet, TV, fridge and internet connection... R U Kidding me.. of course we take it. it cost only $12 / night.

we left the heavy bags and went for dinner.. i love vietnamess' food and noodle. the girl gave us a map and showed us good noodle around the corner. we went there n had pho noodle big bowl of noodle just like what i expected it cost 40.000 dong / $2, Shea tried local beer /Saigon cost 12.000dong (50 cent) so cheap the total bill was 110.000dong it is about $5 for two.

we went back to Hotel and found out that our heavy bags r already in our room oh sweet... i just cant imagine if i have to carry those bags all the way up to the 4rd floor with stair.. it was just funny, when i asked the girl where is the room then she said 2nd floor then i thought oh not bad,, but it is not really 2nd floor with 2 flights of stairs but 4nd floor with 4 flights of stairs...

You won’t miss cookies if u never have one but once you have one and u like it im sure you want more! Im talking about me liking US. my friends might not miss it coz they have never been there and experience the life but I did and I know how it feels like! I have been to only 3 great countries where people wish to stay and immigrant; Canada, US and Australia. I compare a lot about each and I conclude or in my personal opinion US is my choice. It is not because the super power country, police of the world etc, but I see it from the “quality of life” that this county offers for me or perhaps my kids in the future. The quality of life, there is so much better… im talking about very simple things I need for daily life such us things that makes easy in the kitchen ; wash disher, nice oven, good clean water, cheap groceries, cheap food / eating out, good shopping,   very good transportation system , quick response of 911 or fire fighter, good sanitation, quick services (bank/post office/stor

My Indo (Jambi) Wedding

Jambi Traditional wedding cloth hand painting One of the happiest days of my life… Yes the wedding went perfect like what I expected. Words can’t explain how I felt but I will try my best. Seems like everyone likes Yusuf Kevin (that’s what they called him). I really wish he could speak Bahasa, blame on me!! I was too lazy to teach him my language. On Saturday a day before the wedding, we visited my aunty, she offered Shea a place to stay but we refused, rejection isn’t polite here they expected you to always say Yes all the time. it is more to the culture thingy. We went back to the village… everyone was waiting and excited to see Bule (white/western) to take some pictures. Derek and Shea were like celebrity of the weekend. The kids followed wherever they went. Shea bought about 30 kids ice cream which cost only $5 they were all happy. Bless him. We stayed for a few hours and learn the Indo sentence for the marriage. Shea has to remember bahasa word “Aku terima nikahi
