Laos: ‘Now and never”

Now or never, I will never regret to drag my bf Shea to visit Laos, he was kinda changed his mind not to go. Laos and Thailand are like Indonesia and Timor-Timor, so much difference. Viantiane, the capital city of Laos is like a small undeveloped city, it’s way from fancy and glamor architect very simple and small with no malls. Day3 in Laos; I didn’t do anything but slept and chillin in the hotel room, the weather was so hot, the heat was just difference, it wasn’t  kind of the heat you can enjoy, sunbathing etc. it was very humid. I waited till it cool down around 5ish then I biked around city. It’s such a small city, it has 2 main roads and very quiet, 1 or 2 cars passed. Most of the local people bike or walk around the city. I saw many restaurants that offered special menu with weeds, they call it happy menu. Some restaurant plays drama series “friends” and “family guy” over and over. I think they have the complete episodes. Nothing much I could see but series of rock mountains.
Shea went back to the river for 2nd tubing. he tried the swing, trampoline and stopped to as many bars as he could. He was wondering why everyone in the river were super nice. Then I answer “of course coz most of them smoke weed, that’s why they r happyJ”. I couldn’t wait to get to Bangkok, it wasn’t bcoz I didn’t like it there, I did like it there but nothing much to do. Yesterday morning we bought tickets to Viantiane (the capital city) for 50.000kipas each. Left the city at 2ish, 3 hours bus ride arrived in the station at 5ish. I wanted to go back to Bangkok right away but Shea wanted to stay in the capital city for a day or two but I said “NO” coz nothing much to do there. The station didn’t sell the tickets to Bangkok, so we had to go to the city center. By the time we got to the city center it was already 6.15pm. we searched for the travel agent, some were closed and didn’t have ticket for late bus but then Shea finally found 2 tickets for 770 baht / $25 each, yes they charge you in Baht. The van picked us right away and off we go!! I was so happy to come back to Bangkok, I love Thailand, the city, the food, etc. everything is so much cheaper.

The mini Van dropped us to the border, stamped..stamped.. for Visa then Big bus awaited for us in the Thai’s border. It was the best bus ever during this trip, big, clean, confortable. They gave us fried rice for dinner, the thing about Thai’s travel agent was they never tell us what’s going on next, they just dropped us to this restaurant then we ate.. we didn’t know it was free r not. Around 5am the bus broke down, they fixed it for about 2 hours.. we got to Bangkok late. Supposed to be at 6 but we got here round 8ish. It dropped us to Khao San Road, we took taxi to Steve’s condo. Shea has booked the room for us, when we arrived, they have the room ready, nice!!. such a nice room. It’s like mini studio apartment with kitchen, fridge, big flat screen TV, internet, air Con, veranda, hot shower and of course big pool.. oh this is what I call it holiday. We have 2 weeks in Bangkok before our long flight to Boston. We both are happy.. no more bus ride nor shitty hotel. Shea worked out and hang out in the pool whole day, at 7pm we went to MBK, a big shopping mall sells everything… oh gee everything was so cheap!! I wish I haven’t shopped in Jakarta.. you can have half price than Jakarta or even cheaper. Tomorrow we’ll come back and I definitely will shop. We r here, we safe and we r happy to be in Bangkok.

I have been to only 3 great countries where people wish to stay and immigrant; Canada, US and Australia. I compare a lot about each and I conclude or in my personal opinion US is my choice. It is not because the super power country, police of the world etc, but I see it from the “quality of life” that this county offers for me or perhaps my kids in the future. The quality of life, there is so much better… im talking about very simple things I need for daily life such us things that makes easy in the kitchen ; wash disher, nice oven, good clean water, cheap groceries, cheap food / eating out, good shopping,   very good transportation system , quick response of 911 or fire fighter, good sanitation, quick services (bank/post office/stor

My Indo (Jambi) Wedding

Jambi Traditional wedding cloth hand painting One of the happiest days of my life… Yes the wedding went perfect like what I expected. Words can’t explain how I felt but I will try my best. Seems like everyone likes Yusuf Kevin (that’s what they called him). I really wish he could speak Bahasa, blame on me!! I was too lazy to teach him my language. On Saturday a day before the wedding, we visited my aunty, she offered Shea a place to stay but we refused, rejection isn’t polite here they expected you to always say Yes all the time. it is more to the culture thingy. We went back to the village… everyone was waiting and excited to see Bule (white/western) to take some pictures. Derek and Shea were like celebrity of the weekend. The kids followed wherever they went. Shea bought about 30 kids ice cream which cost only $5 they were all happy. Bless him. We stayed for a few hours and learn the Indo sentence for the marriage. Shea has to remember bahasa word “Aku terima nikahi
